Intro to Domestic Violence & the COVID-19 TFDV
Sunday, October 25th @ 3PM ET
The opening event of the series. This Zoom seminar will give attendees a basic background in domestic violence education and awareness (i.e. language used, statistics, responding to disclosures, etc.). Attendees will also get an opportunity to learn more about the COVID-19 Task Force on Domestic Violence, including its founding, mission, current projects, and plans for the future.
Trends in Domestic Violence Data: Results from Quantitative & Qualitative Analyses

In this Zoom seminar, members of the COVID-19 Task Force on Domestic Violence’s data team will present their findings from a variety of research projects, including changes in google searches for DV-related resources, increases/decreases in police-reported domestic violence incidents in different U.S. states, and qualitative interviews with domestic violence service providers.
Child Abuse During COVID-19 & a Storybook Reading of “Joan’s Covid Tale”

This Zoom seminar will begin with a presentation by Kathryn Robb Esq, Director of Child USAdvocacy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending child abuse and neglect by advocating for better laws for child protection. She will discuss the way COVID-19 and its effects have impacted child abuse in the United States. The seminar will continue with a live reading of “Joan’s Covid Tale,” a children’s book written by members of the COVID-19 Task Force on Domestic Violence.
Moderated Community Discussion

Have you ever attended one of our seminar series and been left with unanswered questions? Or wanted to share your own thoughts? This Zoom seminar will be a moderated community discussion about domestic violence during COVID-19. Attendees will be asked to read an article about domestic violence during the pandemic and come prepared to listen, share ideas, and ask questions.

This Zoom seminar will introduce attendees to basic pieces of domestic violence legislation, such as the Violence Against Women’s Act and mandatory arrest policies. The event will also explore barriers to voting for survivors of domestic violence. Attendees will discuss these complex issues and help identify action steps.
Keynote Address by Dr. Ruth Glenn, Director of NCADV
Friday, October 30th @ 5PM ET
The final Zoom seminar of the week will feature a keynote address by Dr. Ruth Glenn, President and CEO of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV). A survivor herself, Dr. Glenn has been involved with a wide variety of programs and funding boards, providing hundreds of presentations on victimization and survival and even testified before the Colorado state legislature and the United States Congress. Most recently, Dr. Glenn spoke at the Democratic National Convention. We are honored to have her as our keynote speaker. A suggested donation to NCADV of $5 is asked to attend this event.
